Duration: 2/3 hours
The tour begins with a warm welcome in the Arbresh Ethnic Museum where you can discover the values and symbols of Italo-Albanian culture. We walk through the districts and narrow streets of the village, we discover the chimneys and the Kodra Houses (the houses with the face dedicated to the Albanian post-Cubist master Ibrahim Kodra), we reach the viewpoints to admire the canyon of the Raganello stream and the Devil’s Bridge suspended in the abyss. We discover the Greek Byzantine liturgical furnishings of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, a magnificent example of oriental church.
The trek ends with a tasting of native Civitans products, such as almonds, pyrethrum liqueur, wines, cheeses and Pollino ham (cost to be agreed).
Hiking on the Raganello ridge
Duration: 4/5 Hours
Walking on the extreme ridge is a cathartic experience: you walk slowly to admire the superb landscape of the Raganello canyon, among panoramic terraces where you can stop and aromatic herbs that surprise you with their scent. The hike reaches an altitude of 800 meters, at the height of the immense forest of S. Venere from which we admire the majesty of the Pietra del Demanio, an imposing mass of pink rock that dominates the village of Civita and leaves everyone speechless.
Additional information:
Comfortable clothing and trekking shoes are required for both experiences and a discreet athletic preparation for hiking on the extreme ridge. On request it is possible to combine tastings at local farms and trattorias (costs to be agreed).
Bike tour
Duration: 2 hours
With your mountain bike you can travel through rural areas and old disused railway sections. You can reach panoramic points where you can contemplate the superb landscape of the Raganello Valley and the Eastern Pollino.
Arberia tour
Duration: 3/5 hours
We offer traditional cooking workshops and tours in some Italian-Albanian villages. Visits to different farms and tastings of dairy products and experiences aimed at the knowledge of the local flora and fauna. Experience is also suitable for children.
Kana (From Us)
Duration: 3 hours
Only 7 km away from Civita, in Frascineto, Lucia welcomes us in her great kitchen to let us discover tales and secrets of the ancient Arbresh culture through traditional dishes. When preparing the typical Shtrjdhëlat (stripes), together with her you will feel like working a skein of wool.
